About Attenborough Nature Centre

Opened by Sir David Attenborough in March 2005, Attenborough Nature Centre is an award winning Visitor and Education facility surrounded by the tranquil waters of the beautiful Attenborough Nature Reserve. Situated within easy reach of Nottingham and Derby the Centre provides a “lifeline to the natural world”.

Attenborough Nature Centre has been awarded the Gold award for sustainable tourism in 2007 and was listed in the top ten eco destinations in the world by BBC Wildlife Magazine.

With a visionary eco-design, set against the backdrop of the beautiful Attenborough Nature Reserve, the Centre provides a place for visitors to look, learn and refresh.

The Nature Centre houses a host of facilities including meeting rooms, education facilities, interactive displays, a nature shop, and the ‘Reflections’ Café, serving a selection of quality local, fair trade and organic homemade food.

At the rear of the building is a special outdoor education area complete with a pond, bird feeding stations and a sensory nature trail to enable visitors to observe wildlife at close quarters.
