Digiscoping for Beginners
Saturday 25th May 2013
Digiscoping is a technique that combines a digital camera with a spotting scope in order to provide high quality telephoto images. Try your hand at getting brilliant wildlife photos using this technique during a practical session at Attenborough Nature Reserve. Three different installations will be demonstrated and provided on the day. 10.00am - 12 noon. The £10 course fee can be used against Opticron purchases of over £100 on the day to get you started with your own digiscoping kit. Please book in advance as spaces are limited.

The session will include a briefing from an expert instructor, a supervised session in one of our hides, and a chance to use some professional camera equipment, as well as some tips on getting the most from your camera. The Big 50 - Fifty Hours of Wildlife Watching at Attenborough Nature Reserve

Starting at 10.00am on Friday 9 August, help us celebrate 50 years of the Nottinghamshire WildlifeTrust with a 50 hour-long series of wildlife walks and identification courses at one of our flagship Nature Reserves (and birthplace of the Nottinghamshire Trust for Nature Conservation - now Nottinghamshire Wildlife Trust). The Big 50 will be the first ever attempt to list all the wildlife that can be found at Attenborough and through the event we hope to discover 50 new species for the Reserve! Identification courses, both during the daytime and after dark, will cover all aspects of the huge variety of wildlife for which Attenborough is famous. The Big 50 will finish with a family nature walk, suitable for all ages, on Sunday at 10.00am – 12 noon.

Members-only Bat Watch

Join Michael Walker for an illustrated talk, a night-time walk around Attenborough Nature Reserve with bat detectors, and a chance to get close to a rescue bat.
Meet 8.00pm at the Nature Centre for coffee and biscuits and a half hour talk about bats and their behaviour. Then by 9.00pm we’ll be walking round the reserve for a couple of hours to spot and hear bats. Booking essential, as places are limited for this very popular event.

With some of our partner organisations we will be offering something for everyone including drop-in children’s activities, timed pond dipping sessions and minibeast hunts (weather permitting), a nature walk, help with bird ID in our hides and much more!
