Summer Bird Identification Walk

Join experts for a focused guided walk around the Reserve. You’ll be taught the skills you need to identify the birds of Attenborough using sight and sound. Introduction to Wildlife Photography

Join professional photographer, Iain McMillan, for a morning of wildlife photography around the reserve. Learn how to use your own equipment and use Iain’s extensive range of professional kit. Attenborough Health Walk

7th May 2016
Get active and make new friends whilst enjoying the beautiful scenery and wildlife of Attenborough Nature Reserve by joining us for a short healthy walk for up to an hour. Wild Kids Attenborough

Phase 1 Habitat Surveys

This course covers the essential techniques required to assess wildlife habitats and sites using Phase 1 Habitat Surveys. This is suited to anyone wishing to carry out basic ecological surveys in relation to conservation, site management, planning and development. Includes practical application of the techniques. National Vegetation Classification (NVC)

13th May 2016
The NVC was developed in the 1990s and is seen as one of the main ways of classifying habitats using vegetation recorded within quadrats. Learn the background to the NVC, how it is used and interpreted, how to carry out an NVC survey and analyse NVC data. Includes classroom and practical sessions. Wildlife Painting for Beginners

Bring along your watercolours and spend a day drawing flowers and plants on the Nature Reserve. There will be tuition in paint handling and colour mixing for those just starting out. If you are already a keen watercolourist the day will be structured to help you achieve lively and sensitive paintings directly from nature. Tutor: Kate Houghton. 10am – 4.30pm. Introduction to Bats and Bat Detectors

21st May 2016
Join our expert, Angelena, for an evening of bats at Attenborough. You’ll start with a talk about bat ecology, conservation and surveying then head out for a walk around the Reserve. Bat detectors will be available for you to use. You’ll also get 10% off our range of bat detectors and books in our shop. 8 – 10.30pm. £15.00 per person including refreshments and biscuits.
