3 Bittern (Clifton Pond), Smew (female - Main Pond), 13 Greater White-Fronted Geese (Clifton Pond, later on Barton-in-Fabis side of River grazing fields)

3 x great spotted woodpeckers, 1x female smew (works bridge), bittern (Delta Hide)

13 White-Fronted Geese (Clifton Pond)

250 Pink-footed Geese (over Reserve, from east to west - in two skeins), 3 x Great-spotted Woodpecker, Smew (Main Pond), Greater Scaup (Church Pond), Marsh Tit, 2 Common Shelduck (Clifton Pond), Redwing, Fieldfare

1 Greater Scaup (female on Church Pond), 1 Smew (female on Main Pond), 8 Goosander.

Tuesday 10th Jan 2012
Smew (Male and Female - Main Pond), Pintail (male and 2 females - Clifton Pond), Greater Scaup (Church Pond)

Monday 9th Jan 2012
1 Smew (female on Main Pond), 1 Greater Scaup (female on Church Pond), 7 Greater White-fronted Goose (in field over river, opposite reserve), 1 Water Rail.

Sunday 8th Jan 2012
5 x goosander (Tween Pond), Treecreeper, Common Kingfisher

Saturday 7th Jan 2012
Greater Scaup (female on Church Pond), Smew (female - Main Pond), Water Rail, Bittern (Clifton Pond), Lesser Redpoll (near Attenborough village), Common Snipe (Clifton Pond).

Greater Scaup (female on Church Pond), 8 Common Goldeneye, 22 Common Pochard, 6 Goosander, 6 Bullfinch (Delta Hide), 14 Northern Shoveler, 10 Gadwall, 3 Eurasian Wigeon, Goosander, Little Grebe

Happy New Year from all at the Attenborough Nature Reserve! To get your new year list off to a good start the following sightings have come in for today; Scaup (female - Church Pond), Smew (male - Coneries Pond, female - Main Pond), Siskin, Redpoll, Sparrowhawk (Willow Peninsula), Rough-legged Buzzard (juvenile - east at 13:20 over Brandshill Wood).
