Sightings for January 2009

Friday 30th Jan 2009
c25-30 Whooper Swan circled Coneries Pond before touching down at the far end near the sailing club (9:00am). Flew off West at around 9:15am leaving 1 bird remaining. This bird speant the day on Coneries later joining the 4 Bewick's Swan towards Barton in Fabis.

1 Bahama Pintail (the often seen escape near Visitor Centre).

Monday 26th Jan 2009
1 Bittern (in flight from Delta Hide at 16:20), Goosander (female), 2 Lesser Redpoll (near village).

Sunday 25th Jan 2009
3 Kingfisher, Willow Tit (Delta gate), 9 Goosander, Red-crested Pochard (female on Tween Pond), Common Shelduck, 2 Stonechat (pair on Wheatear Field).

Saturday 24th Jan 2009
18 Goosander (Main Pond). Common Shelduck, 38 Eurasian Wigeon, 4 Common Goldeneye (Clifton Pond). Lesser Spotted Woodpecker [female], Willow Tit, Marsh Tit (Delta Gate). Bittern (Delta - 16:54pm).

c.50 Eurasian Wigeon [circling the river], c.6 Common Goldeneye, Goldcrest, Smew [female on Clifton Pond].

121 Great Crested Grebe, 490 Common Pochard, 62 Eurasian Teal, 393 Tufted Duck, 158 Northern Shoveler, 12 Common Goldeneye, 69 Gadwall, 38 Goosander, 2 Stonechat, 1 Willow Tit, 35 Golden Plover.
